Walshurleagueout Week 7

The magic of football is what happened on Sunday and Monday night in Week 6.  The duel between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady was must see TV and it ended up with being a 43-40 game.  I loved every minute of it despite not being the biggest fan of the Patriots.  I would totally support a Patriots/Rams Super Bowl btw.  As for the Monday night game, is there anything Aaron Rodgers can't do?  Sure, it was the lowly 49ers but they made that a thrilling game and the Packers almost blew it and the whole Mason Crosby redemption arc was Hollywood nonsense.

Anyways let's get ready for Week 7.

GFL NEWS

The Undefeated: Buster won yet again, he's now 6-0 and a win this week would pretty much guarantee him a spot in the 6 man postseason.  Speaking of the 6 man playoffs...

THERE'S SO MUCH CLUTTER: With the case of a 10 team league, 4-10 in our league are interchangeable based on matchups.  Only Buster, Will, and Tyler have winning records and 4-10 are either 3-3, 2-4, or in Phil's case, 1-5.  These next few weeks are crucial.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Ryan spends $35 on Ito Smith and Taylor Gabriel:  The loss of Devonta Freeman made Ryan spend the big bucks on Ito Smith and the hottest waiver add in the land, Taylor Gabriel will add a nice flex play weekly for team Captain Insano.

Walsh believes in the return of the Mack ($10): I spent $10 on Marlon Mack as he returned to the Indianapolis Colts and with the looming return of Le'Veon Bell, I need all the starting running backs I can get.

Since, this segment is about all the waiver pickups, I've decided to consolidate the smaller moves in this area.

Jeff: $2 on kicker Will Lutz
Phil: RB Frank Gore, WR Albert Wilson, RB Bilal Powell, Indianapolis defense
Walsh: WR Christian Kirk, WR Marquis Goodwin, Buffalo defense
KJ: QB Joe Flacco, kicker Aldrick Rosas
Buster: RB Duke Johnson Jr.
Tyler: RB Peyton Barber

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
Shri Returns (5-1) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (3-3)
Shri top 3: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB David Johnson, WR Adam Thielen
OBJs top 3: QB Joe Flacco, RB Kareem Hunt,  WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Shri DANGER ZONE: RB Kerryon Johnson.  Kerryon, my wayward son.  There will be no peace until Matt Patricia gives you more carries and as long as that doesn't happen, Kerryon is a volatile RB2 in Patrica's system.

OBJs DANGER ZONE: WR Desean Jackson.  The king of boom/bust.  He's not a WR1 but he can play like one on the right day.  He's like Jekyll and Hyde.  The good news is that Jameis Winston seems to trust him more than Mike Evans (more on him later)

Walsh's take:  Odell Beckham Jr.  will have to do Odell like things on Monday to seal a victory for KJ.  Will's team is a powerhouse but as the bye weeks set in, more and more teams get vulnerable and there is a slight possibility KJ pulls this off.

Ric Flair Woo! (2-4) @ Captain Insano (2-4)
Flair Top 3: QB Philip Rivers, RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Tyler Boyd
Insano top 3:  QB Carson Wentz, RB Alex Collins, WR Tyreek Hill

Flair's DANGER ZONE: RB Marlon Mack.  He dealt with a hamstring injury but now he's back and he had a decent game against the New York Jets but here's the issue, he's going to be limited because of his lack of pass catching, you're going to hope for a decent workload against Buffalo and a score.

Insano's DANGER ZONE: WR Calvin Ridley, he has a bone bruise and plays on Monday, luckily Dan Quinn should release the injury report on Thursday so we'll know where Ridley and Sanu stand in playing this week on MNF.

Walsh's Take: Tyler Boyd vs Tyreek Hill is the showcase showdown of this matchup between two 2-4 teams and it will be a dandy, I am looking forward to the Sunday night showdown between Kansas City and Cincinnati.  However, if Sanu and Ridley can go, this game will continue into MNF where the match will be one by one of these two teams.

Lil Skeet Skeet (1-5) @ WHAT BIKE? (6-0)
Skeet top 3: QB Andrew Luck,  RB Jordan Howard, WR A.J. Green
BIKE top 3:  QB Cam Newton, RB Todd Gurley, WR Stefon Diggs

Skeet DANGER ZONE: RB Jordan Howard.  The rise and fall of Jordan Howard has been a tragic tale but it just seems coach Matt Nagy PREFERS RB Tarik Cohen to be the wildcard of the Bears offense and thus meaning a reduced role for Jordan Howard, all you can hope for is for Nagy to come to his sense and give Howard some more touches.

BIKE DANGER ZONE: RB Corey Clement.  Sure, he's gonna be part of a tandem backfield with Wendell Smallwood but he had limited touches last week against New York...and that's really all I can say... Buster's team really doesn't have too many weaknesses.

Walsh's take: Throwing Austin Hooper in his flex gives Buster some breathing room to win on Monday night but Phil will hope for a strong push from A.J. Green in the Sunday night game to have enough to cushion for Hooper not to overcome.

BrettKav'sEmptyKeg (2-4) @ Shady Draft Strats (2-4)
Keg top 3: QB Jameis Winston, RB Alvin Kamara, WR DeAndre Hopkins
Shady top 3: QB Matt Ryan, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Keenan Allen

Keg DANGER ZONE: RB Alvin Kamara.  I wish I were joking but at the end of the day, this will probably be a non issue.  He had a limited amount of carries in his last game but maybe it was just a rest period for Kamara?  You can only hope Ingram won't make too much of a dent into Kamara's production.

Shady DANGER ZONE: WR Keenan Allen.  Okay, I know Keenan has been in this spot a few times now but WHERE ARE THE TOUCHDOWNS?  He's a solid play in PPR but he has yet to have a monster game and where he was drafted, you are not getting the value that you should be from Keenan Allen.

Walsh's take: Goose is relying heavily on RB Saquon Barkley and WR Sterling Shepard to win on Monday but Nic will hope a strong push from RB Joe Mixon will make the comeback neigh impossible.

KZOO RIVER MONSTERS (3-3) @ Marshawn of the Dead (4-2)
KZOO top 3: QB Drew Brees, RB Zeke Elliott, WR Mike Evans
Marshawn top 3: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Melvin Gordon, WR Julio Jones

KZOO DANGER ZONE: WR Mike Evans.  Mike Evans started the season hot when QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was leading the charge but has yet to mesh with returning QB Jameis Winston.  He had yet to have over 60 receiving yards in his last two starts.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: WR Kenny Stills.  I get why you're starting Stills, he has big play potential week in and week out but this Detroit secondary is no joke, I don't know if he'll draw Darius Slay but it could be a rough day if Stills is covered by Slay.

Walsh's Take: Jeff's currently looking for a trade to get a WR because he's in bye week hell and he's the underdog going into this one but Tyler will hope if he's in trouble that superstar WR Julio Jones bails him out on Monday.

NFL GAME PICKS

Broncos @ Cardinals:  Oh boy this is an ugly one and I guess I think the Broncos pull it off since they have more firepower in the offense.

Titans @ Chargers:  LONDON GAME!  Get up early to catch this one, 9:30 AM kickoff.  The Chargers are looking like a playoff team with Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon in tow and I expect that to continue against the Titans.

Patriots @ Bears:  WALSH'S WACKY UPSET OF THE WEEK!  Yes, Mitch Trubisky and Khalil Mack will defeat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots at Soldier Field.  THIS IS NOT A JOKE, I AM SERIOUS.

Bills @ Colts: God, I hope the Colts win or I might go missing for a few days...

Texans @ Jaguars: I am picking the Jaguars only because of their defense and the fact that Deshaun Watson is a dead man walking.  His offensive line is garbage.

Lions @ Dolphins: I don't know if Brock Osweiler will play but if he beats the Lions, there's no help for them the rest of the season.  That said, the Lions should win this game handedly.

Vikings @ Jets: I would hope for Minnesota's sake they can beat the Jets on the road because if not, the NFC North just gets more muddled.

Panthers @ Eagles: the Eagles are hot and the Panthers are cold after a loss to Washington, ride the momentum train.

Browns @ Buccaneers: A hobbled Baker Mayfield against a confident Jameis Winston is the key factor here and I think the Bucs find a way to win.

Saints @ Ravens: Drew Brees hasn't faced a defense like Baltimore's yet this year and I think the Saints take the L on this one.  That Ravens defense is playing lights out.

Cowboys @ Redskins: The only thing that came come after a surprise Cowboys victory is utter disappointment in return.

Rams @ 49ers: Much like Buster, the Rams are undefeated and what do both of those teams have in common?  Todd Gurley!

Bengals @ Chiefs: Money Mahomes bounces back again in primetime in a close duel with Andy Dalton that leads to another Chiefs victory.  Last one with the ball wins.

Giants @ Falcons:  The Falcons may have a terrible defense but they're not as bad as Eli Manning is.  Good lord, I hope for Atlanta's sake they win.

Alright that's Week 7.   Only 6 more weeks of regular season to go and yes, I will cover the playoffs too.  Not sure about the constellation bracket though lol.
