Walshurleagueout Week 6

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? YES!

Thanks Sean Payton for limiting Alvin Kamara and giving me my 2nd win on the year. 2-3 is not the end of the world but I'm going to need to really kick it into high gear if I want to make a championship run. In other news, Buster is still undefeated and there's a lot of muddle in the middle of our league with a lot of 2-3 teams.

Let's see how this week pans out eh?

GFL NEWS

Hail to the King: All hail King Buster, the undefeated.  He's been talking smack in the group chat and he's allowed to, when you're undefeated, you're the king and until someone kicks the king off the mountain, he can talk as much as he wants.

Le'Veon Who?  James Conner tore up the Falcons for 110 yards and 2 TDs.  With the Steelers anticipating the return of Le'Veon Bell, James Conner could be a talented halfback waiting on the bench wishing to be the star once again.

Easy Breesy: Congrats to Drew Brees for being the all time passing yards leader in NFL history...unfortunately we'll probably be saying the same to Tom Brady a few years from now.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Will is proud of his Smallwood for $27: Wanting a slice of that Eagles backfield with Jay Ajayi on injured reserve, Will spent $27 on Wendell Smallwood.  Now in my opinion, Corey Clement is the back to own in Philly but Smallwood could be a nice change of pace back.

Phil drops $20 on Tre'Quan Smith: I guess believing his 3 receptions for 112 yards and 2 TDs game for the Saints was not a fluke, Phil has dropped $20 on Smith who might be less relevant when Ted Ginn returns but hey, Phil usually knows how to pick his waiver guys.

Nic hordes tight ends, grabs Njoku for $10:  So Nic has Cameron Brate and now David Njoku and will probably play matchups with the two or maybe possibly both in matchup positive weeks.

Since, this segment is about all the waiver pickups, I've decided to consolidate the smaller moves in this area.

Will: $2 on kicker Cairo Santos
Ryan: $1 on kicker Ryan Succop and RB Isaiah Crowell
Walsh: QB Baker Mayfield, WR Mohamed Sanu, WR Robby Anderson, Packers defense and kicker Harrison Butker
Jeff:  QB Russell Wilson

TRADE ALERT
KZOO RIVER MONSTERS (3-2) trade WRs A.J. Green and Robert Woods to Lil Skeet Skeet (1-4) for RBs Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook.

Walsh's Take: First trade not involving me this season (still waiting on the Nic/Goose yearly trade) but yeah, this is a fine trade.  It makes Phil's receiving corps stronger and he still has Jordan Howard so he's in good shape.  As for Jeff, Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook absolutely give upside to his decimated running back group.  This trade could be a game changer for this league year.

But just remember folks, anyone but Phil.

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
Ric Flair Woo! (2-3) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (2-3)
Flair top 3: QB Philip Rivers, RB James Conner, WR DeAndre Hopkins
OBJs top 3: QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Kareem Hunt,  WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Flair DANGER ZONE: TE Jared Cook.  Being the tight end landscape, Cook is still a TE1 but he's had some duds the past few weeks. He's not the most reliable tight end to have but if he booms, it's a beauty.

OBJs DANGER ZONE: TE Jimmy Graham.  Sure, Jimmy Graham is a big body and an elite talent but here's the facts, the 49ers are solid against tight ends.  They've only allowed tight ends 1-2 catches per matchup.  He could boom against the 49ers on Monday night though.

Walsh's take:  This one is going to rely on Monday night, with me having the Packers defense and KJ possibly starting up to three Packers (Rodgers, Graham, maybe Cobb), I'm going to need CJ Beathard to really tank on Monday night.  Per usual, I'll rely on a cushion to win this week.  Can I get a third Monday Night Miracle?

Lil Skeet Skeet (1-4) @ Shady Draft Strats (1-4)
Skeet Top 3: QB Andrew Luck, RB Jordan Howard,  WR A.J. Green
Shady top 3: QB Tom Brady, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Keenan Allen

Skeet's DANGER ZONE: RB Jordan Howard.  What happened?  Howard was game scripted out in a blow out win over Tampa Bay. Tarik Cohen is a threat to Howard's production but hey, maybe coach Matt Nagy will get his head out of his ass and give Howard some carries.

Shady DANGER ZONE: RB Philip Lindsay.  Going against the Los Angeles Rams defense will be a tough task for the Colorado wonder but he might still have a decent floor this week but don't expect anything magical for Lindsay.

Walsh's Take: Aaron Jones vs George Kittle will end this game on MNF but with the trade for Phil, he might have a lot more firepower to take out Goose before Monday even rolls around, Goose will rely on the GOAT to decimate the Chiefs to make it closer come Monday.

Shri Returns (4-1) @ BrettKav'sEmptyKeg (2-3)
Shri top 3: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Chris Thompson, WR Adam Thielen
Keg top 3: QB Deshaun Watson, RB Christian McCaffery, WR Jarvis Landry

Shri DANGER ZONE: WR Cooper Kupp.  The concussion is a concern and with kickoff for the Rams not until 4:05 PM, Will will have to monitor his status through the week, if Will were to lose Kupp, it would be a huge loss.

Keg DANGER ZONE: QB Deshaun Watson.  I don't know if you watched the game Nic but Watson was throwing his body on the line every play, he sacrificed his body and was getting beat up. Being considered day to day with a chest injury, there is concern for Watson.  The worst case scenario is Watson ends up breaking his ribs...

Walsh's take: Looking at the lineups here, Willy Wonka has a lot of shares of the Patriots and Chiefs and Nic's team will be finished before Sunday night and then it will be time for Mahomes, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and Gronk to try to deliver the victory for SHRIIIIIIIIII.

KZOO River Monsters (3-2) @ WHAT BIKE? (5-0)
KZOO top 3: QB Russell Wilson, RB Zeke Elliott, WR Mike Evans
Bike top 3: QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Todd Gurley, WR Davante Adams

KZOO DANGER ZONE: TE Jordan Reed.  1 reception.  Jordan Reed has one reception against the Saints.  1!  I would be nervous too if I had to rely on Alex Smith as my quarterback too.  Reed should bounce back this week against Carolina but it's still something to be cautious about.

Bike DANGER ZONE: WR Brandin Cooks. Cooks had a brutal concussion last week and will need to clear protocol by Sunday afternoon to play this week against Denver.  If Cooks were to sit out, Buster would take a significant hit but since he's 5-0, I'm not going to doubt him.

Walsh's take: If Jeff somehow has the lead...Buster will need Davante Adams to get to 6-0.  If Buster were to get to 6-0, he would pretty much guarantee a spot in the GFL postseason.  Jeff will hope acquiring Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook will get his team back on track, if not,  he's 3-3 and .500

Captain Insano (2-3) @ Marshawn of the Dead (3-2)
Insano top 3: QB Carson Wentz, RB Devonta Freeman, WR Antonio Brown
Marshawn top 3: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Melvin Gordon, WR Julio Jones

Insano DANGER ZONE: RB Isaiah Crowell.  Sure, he had a breakout game against the Denver Broncos and the Colts are a suspect defense but you never know what you're going to get with the Jets offense, coach Todd Bowles is a master of mediocrity.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: WR Julio Jones.  Is Julio Jones allergic to the end zone? Julio has yet to score a TD this season. He still has seen at least six targets in each game but you have to wonder when he'll cross the goal line for a score.

Walsh's Take: Tyreek Hill vs James White closes this one out and it should be a good one as Tyler will rely on the weekly RB2 to get him the lead while Ryan will hope Mahomes rocket arms a few bombs to the speedy Tyreek Hill to counter each White touch and score.  This one is going to be close folks.

NFL GAME PICKS

Eagles @ Giants:  I think the Eagles are having a Super Bowl hangover, like I've said before, Jalen Mills is trash and I don't think the Giants will rely heavily on Eli but they'll do enough to pull out the victory.

Buccaneers @ Falcons:  Man, this is gonna be a fun shootout.  Jameis Winston's first game back as the Buccaneers starter (I know he finished the Chicago game) and he should take advantage of this Falcons secondary, but counterpoint, Matt Ryan should smoke the Bucs secondary and the Falcons will squeeze out a close one.

Steelers @ Bengals: I think the Steelers will rely heavily on a run heavy attack led by James Conner and some deep passes to Antonio Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster to win in Cincy.  Andy Dalton should have a solid game against this mediocre Steelers secondary.

Chargers @ Browns: In recent memory, the Browns have had the Chargers number.  The Chargers gave the Browns their only win in both their last two seasons.  So yeah, history on their side, I'm taking Baker Mayfield and the Browns to upset the Chargers.

Bills @ Texans: Man, the Bills are weird.  They beat the Vikings and Titans, two teams I thought they'd lose to.  But that said, I think the Texans can do this, especially with the emergence of Keke Coutee, who adds another weapon to Deshaun Watson's arsenal.

Bears @ Dolphins: The Dolphins are frauds, they started 3-0 and they've lost two straight games. This game could go either way but call me crazy, I'd rather trust Mitch Trubisky over Ryan Tannehill.

Cardinals @ Vikings: The Cardinals might be the worst team in the league. Larry Fitzgerald wasting away in the desert.  It makes me sad thinking about it.  Anyways Vikings win big.

Colts @ Jets:  Andrew Luck > Sam Darnold, it's that simple really.  I think the Colts will win a shootout which seems to be all the Colts do is throw, throw, throw.  And Andrew Luck sure can throw...so the Colts should win, right?

Seahawks @ Raiders:  This game is in London, so set your lineups accordingly.  Man, the Raiders are in rough shape.  I prefer the Seahawks just because Derek Carr is so putrid and I know Russell Wilson will start dealing on this Raiders defense.

Panthers @ Redskins:  The Panthers are looking good.  McCaffery and Newton make this offense run and after a pathetic showing on Monday night, the Skins are going to be in rough shape this Sunday.

Rams @ Broncos:  Listen, I know the Rams are banged up but Sean McVay is an elite coach in the NFL and I think he and QB Jared Goff can overcome any obstacle so far this season.  Rams will find a way to win.

Jaguars @ Cowboys: I'm torn on this one but my gut is telling me Dallas wins.  I don't know why.  Maybe because I don't believe in Blake Bortles?  Maybe because this isn't the same team it once was? This is an odd one.

Ravens @ Titans:  So this one is also going to be a shootout and I like Joe Flacco more than Marcus Mariota.  I feel like the Ravens have more firepower than the Titans and that usually equals a W.

Chiefs @ Patriots: Mahomes mania continues, you saw what Andrew Luck did to this defense, this is not a good defense, the Patriots rely heavily on Tom Brady to give them a lead and if they falter, they will fail.  I think Mahomes embarrasses this defense in primetime.

49ers @ Packers:  This game is going to be a dud.  We could have had Garoppolo vs Rodgers, now we get CJ Beathard...gross.  Rodgers should torch this 49ers secondary and the Packers should win easily.

This has been the Week 6 preview for the GFL.  I'm Eric Walsh, your 2nd favorite owner in the GFL.

Best of luck to everyone...but Buster.

Ok fine, Buster too.
