Walshurleagueout Week 9

It's Week 9 in the GFL, 5 weeks to make the GFL postseason and things are heating up, Buster was defeated by Nic in our Game of the Week and is apparently mortal after all. 2-7 in our standings are separated by 1 win. It truly is going to be a cutthroat battle to the postseason.  GAME ON!

GFL NEWS

DT traded to Houston:  Demaryius Thomas is headed to the Houston Texans in exchange for a draft pick.  Houston decimated by injuries at the receiver position are going to give the aging receiver a chance and hope he provides some upside to their offense.

Detroit no longer Golden :(  Goodbye to Golden Tate, one of my favorite receivers to ever play for the Fighting Irish.  The other, Will Fuller is also gone (IR for a torn ACL) but yeah, this is a big move for the Lions, moving on from Golden Tate, this only means more opportunities for Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Jeff spends $16 on Carolina's defense: I have no words for this, I guess Jeff wanted to spend  his FAAB before the end of the year, I hope for his sake he's keeping this defense the rest of the year.

Walsh spends $12 on D.J. Moore: Thinking I need to hoard all the upside rookie wide receivers, I spend pretty much the remainder of my FAAB on Carolina wide receiver D.J. Moore, mind you this is the right Moore to spend your FAAB on this week. Moore's upcoming schedule is appetizing and he has solid flex appeal week to week.

Phil thinks he's sneaky stashing Malcolm Brown: Though he didn't spend any FAAB on this, I want to mention this because the Commish must be pretty confident, Malcolm Brown is Todd Gurley's backup.  Phil must be thinking Gurley will sit in the Championship and he could use Malcolm Brown as a starter.  That or he wants Gurley to go down...

And here's the rest of the waiver moves

Phil: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Denver defense
Nic:  QB Baker Mayfield,  Packers defense
Walsh: TE Jack Doyle, Dolphins defense
Tyler: K Brett Maher,  WR Marquise Goodwin

TRADE ALERT: Rick Flair Woo! trades RB Christian McCaffrey to Captain Insano for WR Antonio Brown.

Walsh's take:  Late season game changer, Ryan needing a solid RB, gets a huge boost for the RB/WR flex juggernaut Christian McCaffrey while Walsh gets one of the top receivers in the game and hopes to rely on James Conner and Marlon Mack going forward.

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
Give Em The Peen (4-4) @ Marshawn of the Dead (5-3)
Peen Top 3: QB Deshaun Watson, RB Alvin Kamara, WR DeAndre Hopkins
Marshawn Top 3: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Melvin Gordon, WR Julio Jones

Peen DANGER ZONE: WR Michael Crabtree.  Crabtree is getting targets but they're minimal, he only got 6.1 fantasy points last week against the Panthers.  He also has to worry about Snead and John Brown stealing targets. He might be the third best receiver on this team.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: WR Doug Baldwin.  Trash.  Doug Baldwin has been trash, I'm sorry Tyler but this pick hasn't worked out.  He is a risky WR2 going forward this season.  Russell Wilson targets him but he's just not getting it done.  Proceed with caution.

Walsh's take:  This is our game of the week because it could shake up the standings.  I know Buster is playing KJ this week but due to his lost, I'm more intrigued by Nic vs Tyler this week.  As for the game, Nic will hope from strong showings from Deshaun Watson and Alvin Kamara while Tyler will hope Julio Jones finds the end zone and Melvin Gordon continues his dominance.

WHAT BIKE? (7-1) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (5-3)
BIKE Top 3: QB Cam Newton, RB Todd Gurley, WR Davante Adams
OBJs top 3:  QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Kareem Hunt, WR Randall Cobb

BIKE DANGER ZONE: Rams defense.  I doubt Buster will try to find a streamer but going up against Drew Brees and the Saints will be a daunting task for this Rams defense which is banged up and Marcus Peters has not delivered the contract he was given.

OBJs  DANGER ZONE: WR Randall Cobb.  With Ty Montgomery getting shipped off to Baltimore, Green Bay might rely more on a running attack led by Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. Also Rodgers go to target is Davante Adams.  Cobb might be looking at a lowly stat line this week.

Walsh's Take: KJ is a real underdog here since he's down OBJ this week and Buster despite the loss still has been a juggernaut this season.  Buster will hope for big games out of QB Cam Newton, WR Davante Adams and of course, Gurley.  KJ will hope he can make up for the lack of OBJ with solid showings from RB Kareem Hunt, WR Desean Jackson and the Texans defense.

Rick Flair Woo! (4-4) @ Shady Draft Strats (2-6)
Flair top 3: QB Russell Wilson,  RB James Conner, WR Antonio Brown
Shady top 3: QB Tom Brady,  RB Philip Lindsay, WR Keenan Allen

Flair DANGER ZONE: RB Kenyan Drake.  Yes, Kenyan Drake is balling out these past few weeks but he is a touchdown dependent RB2 this week against the Jets.  The good news is as long as Brock Osweiler remains the starter, Drake has potential week to week.

Shady DANGER ZONE: WR Geronimo Allison.  Geronimo Allison only had 1 target last week and it's starting to look like Marques Valdes-Scantling has taken over the 3rd receiver role in this offense, maybe Allison was in decoy mode last week but there's still upside against New England.

Walsh's take:  Goose has had some of the crappiest luck this season and now faces a team coming hot off an upset win over Shri Returns.  This screams trap game for Walsh but the acquisition of Antonio Brown might take him over the top,  But just remember, Any Given Sunday.  Goose will hope for big games from WR Keenan Allen and QB Tom Brady while Walsh will look for upside with WR D.J. Moore and WR Courtland Sutton.

Lil Skeet Skeet (2-6) @ KZOO RIVER MONSTERS (4-4)
Skeet top 3: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, RB Jordan Howard, WR Robert Woods
KZOO top 3: QB Drew Brees. RB Zeke Elliott, WR Mike Evans

Skeet DANGER ZONE: WR Allen Robinson.  He's been dealing with a groin injury and hasn't been targeted much.  Taylor Gabriel is putting up better numbers than he is and the offense is more successfully run through Tarik Cohen and Mitchell Trubisky.

KZOO DANGER ZONE: RB Zeke Elliott.  It's not often we have a big named star in our Danger Zone column but this isn't the best matchup for Zeke, the Titans have given up the 4th fewest points to running backs this season and the addition of WR Amari Cooper could equal a negative gamescript for Zeke Elliott.

Walsh's take: Phil's been a hot team relying heavily on performances from QB Andrew Luck and his tandem of WRs Robert Woods and A.J. Green.  This is Jeff's first time meeting this season since their blockbuster trade.  This should be a dandy and if it's close, Zeke Elliott will try to take it home for the Monsters on Monday night.

Shri Returns (5-3) @ Captain Insano (2-6)
Shri top 3: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB David Johnson, WR Adam Thielen
Insano top 3: BOTH QBs ON BYE!  RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Tyreek Hill

Shri DANGER ZONE: TE Rob Gronkowski.  Will...I don't know how to tell you this but Gronk isn't the man he once was.  I think he might be done for.  He's just not doing it for you this year.  He had 7.3 points against Buffalo.  He might have a favorable matchup this week against the Packers but I don't trust Gronk anymore.

Insano DANGER ZONE: RB Isaiah Crowell.  This man is the ultimate boom/bust RB but it's mostly been busts over the past few weeks.  He's scored 7.2, 6.0, and last week 4.8 and he is not a safe RB2 by any means.  The Dolphins just gave up a ton of yards to Lamar Miller last week but Crowell is no Lamar Miller.

Walsh's Take: Ryan will hope the acquisition of RB Christian McCaffrey lights a fire over this struggling squad that is the lowest scoring team in the league. Will is hoping to bounce back after a shocking loss to me and my squad which put 212 points but if there was a week to bounce back, it would be this week against Ryan.

NFL GAME PICKS
Raiders @ 49ers: The Raiders look good?  Held strong against the Colts but the 49ers should be easy to take care of even on the road.

Falcons @ Skins: WALSH'S WACKY UPSET OF THE WEEK! Washington is RED HOT and vying for the NFC East crown.  Sure, the Falcons have firepower on offense but that defense is garbage to the highest level.

Steelers @ Ravens: This one is a literal toss up, great offense vs strong defense, someone's going to have to budge and I trust Ben Roethlisberger more than Joe Flacco.

Lions @ Vikings:  I think a rejuvenated Detroit now relying more on Kerryon Johnson, Kenny Golladay, and Marvin Jones will find a way to win in Minneapolis.  This is probably a more crazy upset than Washington over Atlanta but sure why not, A SECOND CRAZY UPSET OF THE WEEK.

Buccaneers @ Panthers: Fitzmagic may be back but you ain't stopping Cam Newton at home.  NO SIR, YOU ARE NOT!

Jets @ Dolphins: Sam Darnold will be no match for this stout Dolphins defense which surprisingly isn't that bad all things considered.

Bears @ Bills:  Nathan Peterman is going to start for the Bills...moving on.

Chiefs @ Browns: Y'know Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield put on quite the show in College but here in the pros, Mahomes is the safer pick this week.

Chargers @ Seahawks: This more has to do with my faith in Melvin Gordon more than it does about the matchup because I think the Hawks could win but they won't?

Texans @ Broncos: Coin flip, I really like Deshaun Watson but Walsh's gut is saying take the Broncos in a defensive struggle.

Rams @ Saints:  Drew Brees is a Hall of Famer, Jared Goff's career is just beginning but if the Saints had Todd Gurley...Drew Brees might have more than one Super Bowl ring.

Packers @ Patriots: Either way a QB #12 is going to prevail but I'll take the team that isn't imploding inside it's organization.

Titans @ Cowboys: MNF sucks.  I'll admit it, this team isn't amazing but it's better than Sean McDonough.  I really like their graphics for some reason, kooky stuff.  Anyways Marcus Mariota is a broken man and this is just gonna be a Jason Witten suckoff fest since he's back home in Dallas.  Dallas wins big and maybe Amari Cooper is the next Jerry Rice.

Walshurleagueout Week 8

7 weeks in the books and we're starting to see the playoff picture unfold in the GFL, there are four horsemen of the GFL that will be the ones to beat.  Buster, Will, Tyler, and KJ all have winning records and are the favorites to make it to the post season.  Buster unstoppable with the one man wrecking crew Todd Gurley, Will led by Patrick Mahomes and Adam Thielen, Tyler led by Melvin Gordon and Julio Jones and the emergence of James White, and KJ, our defending champ led by Aaron Rodgers and Odell Beckham Jr.

GFL NEWS

Andy Dalton in Primetime: NEVER TRUST THE CINCINNATI BENGALS IN PRIMETIME.  EVER.  EVER!

Todd Gurley: A PPR machine, a fantasy juggernaut, if anything has been proven, this man is the ultimate cheat code in fantasy.

IS ANYONE GOING TO STOP BUSTER? : Can anyone please end this man's reign of terror, it's like Todd Gurley= League champion the past two years in this league.  It doesn't help he drafted well also...

Waiver Wire Wonders

Tyler spends $30 on Vance McDonald and Tajae Sharpe:  Hoping to add some upside to his team, Tyler added TE Vance McDonald and WR Tajae Sharpe.  Both should provide solid depth to Marshawn of the Dead.

Will decides he needs 3 QBS apparently, grabs Trubisky for $5: Maybe to cover Goff/Mahomes bye week or to block me from picking him up, Will picks up QB Mitch Trubisky, one of the hottest QBs in fantasy.

Buster decides to get upside, picks up Jalen Richard for $15: Since he had a free bench spot with Ted Ginn on IR, Buster decided why not have even more options and picked up Raiders RB Jalen Richard.  Richard is the one to own in PPR, so he made the wise choice.

Since, this segment is about all the waiver pickups, I've decided to consolidate the smaller moves in this area.

Walsh: $1 on Patriots defense, RB Raheem Mostert, WR Courtland Sutton, QB Russell Wilson
Will: K Chris Boswell
Nic: Steelers defense
Tyler: Skins defense
Goose: RB Chris Ivory

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
BrettKav'sEmptyKeg (3-4) @ WHAT BIKE? (7-0)
Keg top 3: QB Deshaun Watson, RB Alvin Kamara, WR DeAndre Hopkins
BIKE top 3: QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Todd Gurley, WR Davante Adams

Keg DANGER ZONE: QB Deshaun Watson. For the 2nd straight week, it's Deshaun Watson, did you know the Texans made him take a bus to Jacksonville? That's messed up and so is Watson, he could crack his ribs at any moment, the Texans treatment of him has been disgusting. He should have a decent game against Miami but heed caution.

BIKE DANGER ZONE: RB Corey Clement.  If I were Buster, I'd consider putting Richard in as his RB2 instead of Clement because the situation in Philly is dire as neither he nor Smallwood look capable of taking over that backfield. The glaring weakness of this teams is it's RB2 and I think Buster is close to finishing the puzzle.

Walsh's take:  Well, this one will be over by Sunday night as it will come down to Kamara and Diggs but this really should be a battle, current projection has a 1 point victory for Buster and it wouldn't surprise me if Todd Gurley just beats Nic over with a hammer and says "BUSTER WINS". Damn you Todd Gurley.

Ric Flair Woo! (3-4) @ Shri Returns (5-2)
Flair Top 3: QB Russell Wilson, RB James Conner, WR Tyler Boyd
Insano top 3:  QB Pat Mahomes, RB David Johnson, WR Adam Thielen

Flair's DANGER ZONE: RB Christian McCaffrey.  McCaffrey is a PPR machine buuut he doesn't get TOUCHDOWNS.  WHERE ARE THE TOUCHDOWNS?  Oh I know, THEY'RE IN CAM NEWTON'S HANDS.  So McCaffrey provides a solid floor but he is limited by Cam Newton HOGGING ALL THE TOUCHDOWNS.

Shri's DANGER ZONE: WR Kenny Golladay.  Last week was a down week for Golladay as the Lions relied heavier on a run attack led by Kerryon Johnson.  But Golladay has potential week in and week out.  Better hope he gets 60 yards and a score.

Walsh's Take: Will is favored to win this one and rightfully so, he's a juggernaut equal to Buster and he will rely on Thielen and Michael Thomas to drop the hammer on Ric Flair.  I might just stream MNF on my laptop while I play video games because it will take a miracle for me to win this one. Dead honesty.

Lil Skeet Skeet (1-6) @ Marshawn of the Dead (5-2)
Skeet top 3: QB Andrew Luck,  RB Jordan Howard, WR A.J. Green
Marshawn top 3:  QB Kirk Cousins, RB James White, WR Doug Baldwin

Skeet DANGER ZONE: RB Jordan Howard.  I don't know what to say...Tarik Cohen is ruining Howard's value in PPR and in fantasy.  He needs a TD to have a solid week but if he doesn't get that TD, it's ugly.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: TE Vance McDonald.  Now listen Tyler, I know you spent some coin on Vance McDonald but there's a lot of mouths to feed in Pittsburgh.  AB, Conner, Juju, etc.  He has a low target volume threshold but he still rip off some big chunks of yardage.

Walsh's take: Phil could really use a win as he's dead last in the league right now but Tyler's got too much upside to take this L.  If Tyler is down heading into Monday, James White should take care of business.

KZOO RIVER MONSTERS (3-4) @ Captain Insano (2-5)
KZOO top 3: QB Drew Brees, RB Lamar Miller, WR Juju Smith-Schuster
Insano top 3: QB Carson Wentz, RB Alex Collins, WR Antonio Brown

KZOO DANGER ZONE: RB Lamar Miller.  REVENGE GAME!  Quite the turnaround for Lamar Miller who actually put up 16.9 points in PPR last week but on a short week and a decent Miami defense, I don't know if he can repeat this feat.

Insano DANGER ZONE: TE Kyle Rudolph.  2.6 points.  That is how many points Rudolph got you last week.  That is pathetic.  Here's the problem, Kirk Cousins usually loves throwing to his tight ends but his bromance with Adam Thielen is too much.  HE'S NOT SAFE TO START.

Walsh's take: This should be a low scoring tilt between two struggling teams. Tyreek Hill could be the gamebreaker for this matchup but if Jeff is down, Drew Brees will try to take it home for the Monsters this Sunday night.

Shady Draft Strats (2-5) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (4-3)
Shady top 3: QB Tom Brady, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Sterling Shepard
OBJs top 3: QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Kareem Hunt, WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Shady DANGER ZONE: TE C.J. Uzomah.  2 targets for 13 yards and a TD. That's all you got out of Uzomah.  Luckily he got the TD or else, that would have been a sad stat line.  Proceed with caution on Uzomah but he should bounce back against the Buccaneers.

OBJs DANGER ZONE: WR Desean Jackson.  So he had a decent week but as always, he could bust at any time.  Seems like Jameis likes him enough that he's a solid flex play week to week.

Walsh's Take: KJ is slightly favored to win this one but Tom Brady vs Buffalo is a salivating matchup to have for Monday and could turn the tide if this one is close, I think Goose has a chance here.

NFL GAME PICKS

Dolphins @ Texans: I'll take the home team to defeat former QB Brock Osweiler on Thursday, too many injuries on the offense for Miami.

Eagles @ Jaguars: LONDON game.  The Jaguars are imploding, this is a must win game for the Jags but I think Carson Wentz is going to ruin that.

Ravens @ Panthers: This one is a coin flip for me, I like both these teams but I'll go with the home team because the Panthers play well at home.

Jets @ Bears:  Money Mitch continues as the Bears steamroll the Jets.

Buccaneers @ Bengals: Andy Dalton should bounce back against one of the worst passing defenses in the league.

Seahawks @ Lions: The emergence of Kerryon Johnson will help the Lions string off yet another victory.

Broncos @ Chiefs:  If the Broncos weren't a problem for Mahomes in Denver, they won't be a problem at home, the Chiefs are red hot and looking like AFC title contenders.

Skins @ Giants:  The Giants are having a fire sale, regretting keeping Eli Manning and already looking towards the future.

Browns @ Steelers:  The Steelers are going to play better this time around and overtime will not be needed, Baker Mayfield might struggle at Heinz Field.

Colts @ Raiders: After trading away Amari Cooper, the Raiders are dysfunctional and I'll take a fired up Colts squad to blast Oakland on the road.

49ers @ Cardinals: This one is gross but the Cardinals are a dumpster fire and even with a new offensive coordinator, the defense is getting shredded by running backs and Arizona is one of the worst.

Packers @ Rams:  I almost picked the Packers but MAN, that defense is rough.  Going with the team with Todd Gurley.

Saints @ Vikings: This one could go either way but I put more faith in Drew Brees over Kirk Cousins any day, be it Sunday or Monday.  Brees is a first ballot hall of famer, he should win this game.

Patriots @ Bills:  This is going to be one of the worst games in MNF history.  Tom Brady might throw six touchdowns.  And I'll just sit there and be like "How did Jason Witten get this job..."

Well that's all for Week 8,  I'll be happy to do it all over again next week.

Good luck this week fellas, especially to Nic!

Someone please knock off Buster.

Walshurleagueout Week 7

The magic of football is what happened on Sunday and Monday night in Week 6.  The duel between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady was must see TV and it ended up with being a 43-40 game.  I loved every minute of it despite not being the biggest fan of the Patriots.  I would totally support a Patriots/Rams Super Bowl btw.  As for the Monday night game, is there anything Aaron Rodgers can't do?  Sure, it was the lowly 49ers but they made that a thrilling game and the Packers almost blew it and the whole Mason Crosby redemption arc was Hollywood nonsense.

Anyways let's get ready for Week 7.

GFL NEWS

The Undefeated: Buster won yet again, he's now 6-0 and a win this week would pretty much guarantee him a spot in the 6 man postseason.  Speaking of the 6 man playoffs...

THERE'S SO MUCH CLUTTER: With the case of a 10 team league, 4-10 in our league are interchangeable based on matchups.  Only Buster, Will, and Tyler have winning records and 4-10 are either 3-3, 2-4, or in Phil's case, 1-5.  These next few weeks are crucial.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Ryan spends $35 on Ito Smith and Taylor Gabriel:  The loss of Devonta Freeman made Ryan spend the big bucks on Ito Smith and the hottest waiver add in the land, Taylor Gabriel will add a nice flex play weekly for team Captain Insano.

Walsh believes in the return of the Mack ($10): I spent $10 on Marlon Mack as he returned to the Indianapolis Colts and with the looming return of Le'Veon Bell, I need all the starting running backs I can get.

Since, this segment is about all the waiver pickups, I've decided to consolidate the smaller moves in this area.

Jeff: $2 on kicker Will Lutz
Phil: RB Frank Gore, WR Albert Wilson, RB Bilal Powell, Indianapolis defense
Walsh: WR Christian Kirk, WR Marquis Goodwin, Buffalo defense
KJ: QB Joe Flacco, kicker Aldrick Rosas
Buster: RB Duke Johnson Jr.
Tyler: RB Peyton Barber

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
Shri Returns (5-1) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (3-3)
Shri top 3: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB David Johnson, WR Adam Thielen
OBJs top 3: QB Joe Flacco, RB Kareem Hunt,  WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Shri DANGER ZONE: RB Kerryon Johnson.  Kerryon, my wayward son.  There will be no peace until Matt Patricia gives you more carries and as long as that doesn't happen, Kerryon is a volatile RB2 in Patrica's system.

OBJs DANGER ZONE: WR Desean Jackson.  The king of boom/bust.  He's not a WR1 but he can play like one on the right day.  He's like Jekyll and Hyde.  The good news is that Jameis Winston seems to trust him more than Mike Evans (more on him later)

Walsh's take:  Odell Beckham Jr.  will have to do Odell like things on Monday to seal a victory for KJ.  Will's team is a powerhouse but as the bye weeks set in, more and more teams get vulnerable and there is a slight possibility KJ pulls this off.

Ric Flair Woo! (2-4) @ Captain Insano (2-4)
Flair Top 3: QB Philip Rivers, RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Tyler Boyd
Insano top 3:  QB Carson Wentz, RB Alex Collins, WR Tyreek Hill

Flair's DANGER ZONE: RB Marlon Mack.  He dealt with a hamstring injury but now he's back and he had a decent game against the New York Jets but here's the issue, he's going to be limited because of his lack of pass catching, you're going to hope for a decent workload against Buffalo and a score.

Insano's DANGER ZONE: WR Calvin Ridley, he has a bone bruise and plays on Monday, luckily Dan Quinn should release the injury report on Thursday so we'll know where Ridley and Sanu stand in playing this week on MNF.

Walsh's Take: Tyler Boyd vs Tyreek Hill is the showcase showdown of this matchup between two 2-4 teams and it will be a dandy, I am looking forward to the Sunday night showdown between Kansas City and Cincinnati.  However, if Sanu and Ridley can go, this game will continue into MNF where the match will be one by one of these two teams.

Lil Skeet Skeet (1-5) @ WHAT BIKE? (6-0)
Skeet top 3: QB Andrew Luck,  RB Jordan Howard, WR A.J. Green
BIKE top 3:  QB Cam Newton, RB Todd Gurley, WR Stefon Diggs

Skeet DANGER ZONE: RB Jordan Howard.  The rise and fall of Jordan Howard has been a tragic tale but it just seems coach Matt Nagy PREFERS RB Tarik Cohen to be the wildcard of the Bears offense and thus meaning a reduced role for Jordan Howard, all you can hope for is for Nagy to come to his sense and give Howard some more touches.

BIKE DANGER ZONE: RB Corey Clement.  Sure, he's gonna be part of a tandem backfield with Wendell Smallwood but he had limited touches last week against New York...and that's really all I can say... Buster's team really doesn't have too many weaknesses.

Walsh's take: Throwing Austin Hooper in his flex gives Buster some breathing room to win on Monday night but Phil will hope for a strong push from A.J. Green in the Sunday night game to have enough to cushion for Hooper not to overcome.

BrettKav'sEmptyKeg (2-4) @ Shady Draft Strats (2-4)
Keg top 3: QB Jameis Winston, RB Alvin Kamara, WR DeAndre Hopkins
Shady top 3: QB Matt Ryan, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Keenan Allen

Keg DANGER ZONE: RB Alvin Kamara.  I wish I were joking but at the end of the day, this will probably be a non issue.  He had a limited amount of carries in his last game but maybe it was just a rest period for Kamara?  You can only hope Ingram won't make too much of a dent into Kamara's production.

Shady DANGER ZONE: WR Keenan Allen.  Okay, I know Keenan has been in this spot a few times now but WHERE ARE THE TOUCHDOWNS?  He's a solid play in PPR but he has yet to have a monster game and where he was drafted, you are not getting the value that you should be from Keenan Allen.

Walsh's take: Goose is relying heavily on RB Saquon Barkley and WR Sterling Shepard to win on Monday but Nic will hope a strong push from RB Joe Mixon will make the comeback neigh impossible.

KZOO RIVER MONSTERS (3-3) @ Marshawn of the Dead (4-2)
KZOO top 3: QB Drew Brees, RB Zeke Elliott, WR Mike Evans
Marshawn top 3: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Melvin Gordon, WR Julio Jones

KZOO DANGER ZONE: WR Mike Evans.  Mike Evans started the season hot when QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was leading the charge but has yet to mesh with returning QB Jameis Winston.  He had yet to have over 60 receiving yards in his last two starts.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: WR Kenny Stills.  I get why you're starting Stills, he has big play potential week in and week out but this Detroit secondary is no joke, I don't know if he'll draw Darius Slay but it could be a rough day if Stills is covered by Slay.

Walsh's Take: Jeff's currently looking for a trade to get a WR because he's in bye week hell and he's the underdog going into this one but Tyler will hope if he's in trouble that superstar WR Julio Jones bails him out on Monday.

NFL GAME PICKS

Broncos @ Cardinals:  Oh boy this is an ugly one and I guess I think the Broncos pull it off since they have more firepower in the offense.

Titans @ Chargers:  LONDON GAME!  Get up early to catch this one, 9:30 AM kickoff.  The Chargers are looking like a playoff team with Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon in tow and I expect that to continue against the Titans.

Patriots @ Bears:  WALSH'S WACKY UPSET OF THE WEEK!  Yes, Mitch Trubisky and Khalil Mack will defeat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots at Soldier Field.  THIS IS NOT A JOKE, I AM SERIOUS.

Bills @ Colts: God, I hope the Colts win or I might go missing for a few days...

Texans @ Jaguars: I am picking the Jaguars only because of their defense and the fact that Deshaun Watson is a dead man walking.  His offensive line is garbage.

Lions @ Dolphins: I don't know if Brock Osweiler will play but if he beats the Lions, there's no help for them the rest of the season.  That said, the Lions should win this game handedly.

Vikings @ Jets: I would hope for Minnesota's sake they can beat the Jets on the road because if not, the NFC North just gets more muddled.

Panthers @ Eagles: the Eagles are hot and the Panthers are cold after a loss to Washington, ride the momentum train.

Browns @ Buccaneers: A hobbled Baker Mayfield against a confident Jameis Winston is the key factor here and I think the Bucs find a way to win.

Saints @ Ravens: Drew Brees hasn't faced a defense like Baltimore's yet this year and I think the Saints take the L on this one.  That Ravens defense is playing lights out.

Cowboys @ Redskins: The only thing that came come after a surprise Cowboys victory is utter disappointment in return.

Rams @ 49ers: Much like Buster, the Rams are undefeated and what do both of those teams have in common?  Todd Gurley!

Bengals @ Chiefs: Money Mahomes bounces back again in primetime in a close duel with Andy Dalton that leads to another Chiefs victory.  Last one with the ball wins.

Giants @ Falcons:  The Falcons may have a terrible defense but they're not as bad as Eli Manning is.  Good lord, I hope for Atlanta's sake they win.

Alright that's Week 7.   Only 6 more weeks of regular season to go and yes, I will cover the playoffs too.  Not sure about the constellation bracket though lol.

Walshurleagueout Week 6

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? YES!

Thanks Sean Payton for limiting Alvin Kamara and giving me my 2nd win on the year. 2-3 is not the end of the world but I'm going to need to really kick it into high gear if I want to make a championship run. In other news, Buster is still undefeated and there's a lot of muddle in the middle of our league with a lot of 2-3 teams.

Let's see how this week pans out eh?

GFL NEWS

Hail to the King: All hail King Buster, the undefeated.  He's been talking smack in the group chat and he's allowed to, when you're undefeated, you're the king and until someone kicks the king off the mountain, he can talk as much as he wants.

Le'Veon Who?  James Conner tore up the Falcons for 110 yards and 2 TDs.  With the Steelers anticipating the return of Le'Veon Bell, James Conner could be a talented halfback waiting on the bench wishing to be the star once again.

Easy Breesy: Congrats to Drew Brees for being the all time passing yards leader in NFL history...unfortunately we'll probably be saying the same to Tom Brady a few years from now.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Will is proud of his Smallwood for $27: Wanting a slice of that Eagles backfield with Jay Ajayi on injured reserve, Will spent $27 on Wendell Smallwood.  Now in my opinion, Corey Clement is the back to own in Philly but Smallwood could be a nice change of pace back.

Phil drops $20 on Tre'Quan Smith: I guess believing his 3 receptions for 112 yards and 2 TDs game for the Saints was not a fluke, Phil has dropped $20 on Smith who might be less relevant when Ted Ginn returns but hey, Phil usually knows how to pick his waiver guys.

Nic hordes tight ends, grabs Njoku for $10:  So Nic has Cameron Brate and now David Njoku and will probably play matchups with the two or maybe possibly both in matchup positive weeks.

Since, this segment is about all the waiver pickups, I've decided to consolidate the smaller moves in this area.

Will: $2 on kicker Cairo Santos
Ryan: $1 on kicker Ryan Succop and RB Isaiah Crowell
Walsh: QB Baker Mayfield, WR Mohamed Sanu, WR Robby Anderson, Packers defense and kicker Harrison Butker
Jeff:  QB Russell Wilson

TRADE ALERT
KZOO RIVER MONSTERS (3-2) trade WRs A.J. Green and Robert Woods to Lil Skeet Skeet (1-4) for RBs Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook.

Walsh's Take: First trade not involving me this season (still waiting on the Nic/Goose yearly trade) but yeah, this is a fine trade.  It makes Phil's receiving corps stronger and he still has Jordan Howard so he's in good shape.  As for Jeff, Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook absolutely give upside to his decimated running back group.  This trade could be a game changer for this league year.

But just remember folks, anyone but Phil.

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
Ric Flair Woo! (2-3) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (2-3)
Flair top 3: QB Philip Rivers, RB James Conner, WR DeAndre Hopkins
OBJs top 3: QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Kareem Hunt,  WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Flair DANGER ZONE: TE Jared Cook.  Being the tight end landscape, Cook is still a TE1 but he's had some duds the past few weeks. He's not the most reliable tight end to have but if he booms, it's a beauty.

OBJs DANGER ZONE: TE Jimmy Graham.  Sure, Jimmy Graham is a big body and an elite talent but here's the facts, the 49ers are solid against tight ends.  They've only allowed tight ends 1-2 catches per matchup.  He could boom against the 49ers on Monday night though.

Walsh's take:  This one is going to rely on Monday night, with me having the Packers defense and KJ possibly starting up to three Packers (Rodgers, Graham, maybe Cobb), I'm going to need CJ Beathard to really tank on Monday night.  Per usual, I'll rely on a cushion to win this week.  Can I get a third Monday Night Miracle?

Lil Skeet Skeet (1-4) @ Shady Draft Strats (1-4)
Skeet Top 3: QB Andrew Luck, RB Jordan Howard,  WR A.J. Green
Shady top 3: QB Tom Brady, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Keenan Allen

Skeet's DANGER ZONE: RB Jordan Howard.  What happened?  Howard was game scripted out in a blow out win over Tampa Bay. Tarik Cohen is a threat to Howard's production but hey, maybe coach Matt Nagy will get his head out of his ass and give Howard some carries.

Shady DANGER ZONE: RB Philip Lindsay.  Going against the Los Angeles Rams defense will be a tough task for the Colorado wonder but he might still have a decent floor this week but don't expect anything magical for Lindsay.

Walsh's Take: Aaron Jones vs George Kittle will end this game on MNF but with the trade for Phil, he might have a lot more firepower to take out Goose before Monday even rolls around, Goose will rely on the GOAT to decimate the Chiefs to make it closer come Monday.

Shri Returns (4-1) @ BrettKav'sEmptyKeg (2-3)
Shri top 3: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Chris Thompson, WR Adam Thielen
Keg top 3: QB Deshaun Watson, RB Christian McCaffery, WR Jarvis Landry

Shri DANGER ZONE: WR Cooper Kupp.  The concussion is a concern and with kickoff for the Rams not until 4:05 PM, Will will have to monitor his status through the week, if Will were to lose Kupp, it would be a huge loss.

Keg DANGER ZONE: QB Deshaun Watson.  I don't know if you watched the game Nic but Watson was throwing his body on the line every play, he sacrificed his body and was getting beat up. Being considered day to day with a chest injury, there is concern for Watson.  The worst case scenario is Watson ends up breaking his ribs...

Walsh's take: Looking at the lineups here, Willy Wonka has a lot of shares of the Patriots and Chiefs and Nic's team will be finished before Sunday night and then it will be time for Mahomes, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and Gronk to try to deliver the victory for SHRIIIIIIIIII.

KZOO River Monsters (3-2) @ WHAT BIKE? (5-0)
KZOO top 3: QB Russell Wilson, RB Zeke Elliott, WR Mike Evans
Bike top 3: QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Todd Gurley, WR Davante Adams

KZOO DANGER ZONE: TE Jordan Reed.  1 reception.  Jordan Reed has one reception against the Saints.  1!  I would be nervous too if I had to rely on Alex Smith as my quarterback too.  Reed should bounce back this week against Carolina but it's still something to be cautious about.

Bike DANGER ZONE: WR Brandin Cooks. Cooks had a brutal concussion last week and will need to clear protocol by Sunday afternoon to play this week against Denver.  If Cooks were to sit out, Buster would take a significant hit but since he's 5-0, I'm not going to doubt him.

Walsh's take: If Jeff somehow has the lead...Buster will need Davante Adams to get to 6-0.  If Buster were to get to 6-0, he would pretty much guarantee a spot in the GFL postseason.  Jeff will hope acquiring Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook will get his team back on track, if not,  he's 3-3 and .500

Captain Insano (2-3) @ Marshawn of the Dead (3-2)
Insano top 3: QB Carson Wentz, RB Devonta Freeman, WR Antonio Brown
Marshawn top 3: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Melvin Gordon, WR Julio Jones

Insano DANGER ZONE: RB Isaiah Crowell.  Sure, he had a breakout game against the Denver Broncos and the Colts are a suspect defense but you never know what you're going to get with the Jets offense, coach Todd Bowles is a master of mediocrity.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: WR Julio Jones.  Is Julio Jones allergic to the end zone? Julio has yet to score a TD this season. He still has seen at least six targets in each game but you have to wonder when he'll cross the goal line for a score.

Walsh's Take: Tyreek Hill vs James White closes this one out and it should be a good one as Tyler will rely on the weekly RB2 to get him the lead while Ryan will hope Mahomes rocket arms a few bombs to the speedy Tyreek Hill to counter each White touch and score.  This one is going to be close folks.

NFL GAME PICKS

Eagles @ Giants:  I think the Eagles are having a Super Bowl hangover, like I've said before, Jalen Mills is trash and I don't think the Giants will rely heavily on Eli but they'll do enough to pull out the victory.

Buccaneers @ Falcons:  Man, this is gonna be a fun shootout.  Jameis Winston's first game back as the Buccaneers starter (I know he finished the Chicago game) and he should take advantage of this Falcons secondary, but counterpoint, Matt Ryan should smoke the Bucs secondary and the Falcons will squeeze out a close one.

Steelers @ Bengals: I think the Steelers will rely heavily on a run heavy attack led by James Conner and some deep passes to Antonio Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster to win in Cincy.  Andy Dalton should have a solid game against this mediocre Steelers secondary.

Chargers @ Browns: In recent memory, the Browns have had the Chargers number.  The Chargers gave the Browns their only win in both their last two seasons.  So yeah, history on their side, I'm taking Baker Mayfield and the Browns to upset the Chargers.

Bills @ Texans: Man, the Bills are weird.  They beat the Vikings and Titans, two teams I thought they'd lose to.  But that said, I think the Texans can do this, especially with the emergence of Keke Coutee, who adds another weapon to Deshaun Watson's arsenal.

Bears @ Dolphins: The Dolphins are frauds, they started 3-0 and they've lost two straight games. This game could go either way but call me crazy, I'd rather trust Mitch Trubisky over Ryan Tannehill.

Cardinals @ Vikings: The Cardinals might be the worst team in the league. Larry Fitzgerald wasting away in the desert.  It makes me sad thinking about it.  Anyways Vikings win big.

Colts @ Jets:  Andrew Luck > Sam Darnold, it's that simple really.  I think the Colts will win a shootout which seems to be all the Colts do is throw, throw, throw.  And Andrew Luck sure can throw...so the Colts should win, right?

Seahawks @ Raiders:  This game is in London, so set your lineups accordingly.  Man, the Raiders are in rough shape.  I prefer the Seahawks just because Derek Carr is so putrid and I know Russell Wilson will start dealing on this Raiders defense.

Panthers @ Redskins:  The Panthers are looking good.  McCaffery and Newton make this offense run and after a pathetic showing on Monday night, the Skins are going to be in rough shape this Sunday.

Rams @ Broncos:  Listen, I know the Rams are banged up but Sean McVay is an elite coach in the NFL and I think he and QB Jared Goff can overcome any obstacle so far this season.  Rams will find a way to win.

Jaguars @ Cowboys: I'm torn on this one but my gut is telling me Dallas wins.  I don't know why.  Maybe because I don't believe in Blake Bortles?  Maybe because this isn't the same team it once was? This is an odd one.

Ravens @ Titans:  So this one is also going to be a shootout and I like Joe Flacco more than Marcus Mariota.  I feel like the Ravens have more firepower than the Titans and that usually equals a W.

Chiefs @ Patriots: Mahomes mania continues, you saw what Andrew Luck did to this defense, this is not a good defense, the Patriots rely heavily on Tom Brady to give them a lead and if they falter, they will fail.  I think Mahomes embarrasses this defense in primetime.

49ers @ Packers:  This game is going to be a dud.  We could have had Garoppolo vs Rodgers, now we get CJ Beathard...gross.  Rodgers should torch this 49ers secondary and the Packers should win easily.

This has been the Week 6 preview for the GFL.  I'm Eric Walsh, your 2nd favorite owner in the GFL.

Best of luck to everyone...but Buster.

Ok fine, Buster too.

Walshurleagueout Week 5

Buster, sit down and be humble.

That said, congrats on being the last man standing undefeated.

Best of luck the rest of the season!

GFL NEWS

Mahomes Magic: Patrick Mahomes is the chosen one.  His final drive against the Broncos this Monday was magical.  Even against Jacksonville, I like his chances to put up a good stat line.

Every Rose has it's Fournette:  Leonard Fournette, elite talent, terrible legs.

Overtime Winners and losers: Frank Reich's bold choice to go for it on 4th down in OT cost the Colts a much needed victory while in Tennessee, Mike Vrabel's decision to throw and move down the field worked out as the Titans upset the Eagles like I called!

Waiver Wire Wonders

Walsh loves Keke, drops $25: Keke Coutee, the slot receiver for the Houston Texans had a breakout game in Indianapolis putting up 21.7 fantasy points on an insane 15 targets.  His day benefitted from Will Fuller being sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Goose needs Yeldon, spends $20: After trading for Fournette, Goose needed his handcuff in T.J. Yeldon and paid a decent chunk of change.  Yeldon has been productive, putting up 23 points last week against the New York Jets.

Phil prefers Hines: Phil spends $10 on Colts rookie halfback Nyheim Hines, as a Colts fan, I can vouch for Hines being a solid change of pace PPR investment.  He could be this years Alvin Kamara but I say that lightly

Since, this segment is about all the waiver pickups, I've decided to consolidate the smaller moves in this area.

Nic: Spent $6 on Tarik Cohen and $4 on Cameron Brate, and TE Vance McDonald
Walsh: $1 on Tennessee defense and $1 on WR Dede Westbrook also kicker Brett Maher

BUFFALO WILD WINGS GAME OF THE WEEK
WHAT BIKE? (4-0) @ Marshawn of the Dead (3-1)
Projected winner: Bike 142-135
BIKE top 3: Todd Gurley, Davante Adams, Ben Roethlisberger
Marshawn top 3: Kirk Cousins, Melvin Gordon, Julio Jones

BIKE DANGER ZONE: Dion Lewis.  If there's any fault in Bike's team, it's his lack of a true RB2, Dion Lewis is a volatile of an RB2 as their is but when you're loaded with front talent and Todd Gurley, I guess it's not the end of the world for Mr. 4-0.

Marshawn DANGER ZONE: Vikings defense.  The Vikings defense is no longer elite.  Did you see what Jared Goff did to them.  You might not have a better option but just remember, they got you a -3.00 last week.

This one will be done before Monday with Ebron and James White being a key matchup for this Thursday's game between the Colts and Patriots.  I'd like to see Tyler pull off the upset but you never know with Bike, they could dominate yet again.

Gretchen Whitmer (1-3) @ Bill Schuette (2-2)
Projected winner:  Schuette 152-135
Whitmer's top 3: Philip Rivers, DeAndre Hopkins, James Conner
Schuette top 3: Deshaun Watson, Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffery

Whitmer's DANGER ZONE: Buck Allen.  WHY CAN'T I QUIT YOU  BUCK ALLEN. You're a mediocre runner but you catch a couple passes and get in the end zone and all is forgiven.  It helps Alex Collins is blowing every chance he gets.

Schuette DANGER ZONE: Vance McDonald.  Though he can't help it, Nic is going to start Vance McDonald and hope for a decent game.  This is really the only flaw in his team and all I can give him as a negative.

THEME WEEK!  Nic Kaminski and Eric Walsh (yours truly) have always had a fun rivalry in the GFL and when Nic changed his team name to Bill Schuette, I reluctantly but humorously changed mine to Gretchen Whitmer to mimic the Michigan Governor race.  As for the game, I have to wait for Alvin Kamara to put the proverbial nail in the coffin on Monday, but here's hoping I might have a cushion...

Lil Skeet Skeet (1-3) @ Shri Returns (3-1)
Projected winner: Shri 148-102
Skeet Top 3: Andrew Luck, Zeke Elliott, Travis Kelce

Skeet DANGER ZONE: Sammy Watkins.  Watkins hurt his hamstring this Monday against the Broncos and on a short week might be unavailable to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars and even if he plays, IT'S JACKSONVILLE!

Shri DANGER ZONE: Rob Gronkowski.  Gronk might not play Thursday, Will.  So I would consider stashing a backup TE juust in case he's a no go for a short week.  I almost considered putting Mahomes here but he's matchup proof for the time being.

Phil at the time of this article has not put in Nyheim Hines and replaced his bye week players so his projection will change but this is an utter mismatch for Lil Skeet Skeet. It will take a lot of high ceiling play from his star players to not get Shri'd.

KZOO River Monsters (3-1) @ Shady Draft Strats (0-4)
Projected winner: Shady 136-113
KZOO Top 3: Drew Brees, A.J. Green, Juju Smith-Schuster

KZOO DANGER ZONE: Lamar Miller.  Lamar Miller has been dreadful for the Texans, he had 10 yards last week in Indianapolis.  He is the reason Deshaun Watson is throwing so much.  Much like Bike, an elite team hampered by the lack of RB finesse.

Shady DANGER ZONE: Keenan Allen.  I know it's probably shocking to see a big name on here but let's face it...he's not putting up WR1 numbers.  Last week, he had 13.3  now that's not terrible but it's not great.  This should be a solid bounce back game though, it's the hapless Raiders.

I expect Jeff to plug in Jordan Reed over David Njoku and rely on both Reed and Brees to take the victory on Monday night.  It sure would be nice if Goose could get the win though.  We're all rootinf for him this week...well except for Jeff.

Captain Insano (2-2) @ OBJs give me a Chubb (1-3)
Projected winner: OBJs 131-127
Insano top 3: Antonio Brown, Carson Wentz, Golden Tate
OBJs top 3: Aaron Rodgers, Odell Beckham Jr., Kareem Hunt

Insano DANGER ZONE: Alex Collins. Ryan, Alex Collins is a problem.  He has fumblitis.  He chokes when he's near the end zone.  He's the reason Buck Allen is so reliable in PPR.  All you can hope is that he gets it all together by the end of the season.

OBJs DANGER ZONE: Tevin Coleman. Devonta Freeman will be back this week which will limit Coleman's appeal.  He's still going to be a fine play as a flex but don't expect RB2 numbers.

NFL GAME PICKS

Indianapolis @ New England: Indianapolis is going to be banged up defensively and Andrew Luck needs to not throw over 60 times for his arms sake.

Tennessee @ Buffalo: The Bills somehow beat the Vikings but then got shut out by the Packers. The Titans are coming off an inspiring win against the defending champs. Titans got fuel for their fire.

Miami @ Cincinnati: Dolphins were fools gold and couldn't beat the Patriots for the good of the NFL, so now they'll probably lose to Cincy too.

Baltimore @ Cleveland: Everyone loves a good underdog story and the Browns are that and Baker Mayfield is fun to watch but Baltimore is on a hot streak and will continue to do so.

Green Bay @ Detroit:  Aaron Rodgers even on one leg can beat the Detroit Lions.  I expect a shootout that ends with A-Aron leaving the Motor City crying.

Jacksonville @ Kansas City: Okay, so I was wrong about Denver but Pat Mahomes has to show some human qualities against the best defense in the league, right?  RIGHT?

Denver @ NY Jets: This one could go either way. But I like Denver more than the Jets and expect Von Miller to get to Sam Darnold.

Atlanta @ Pittsburgh:  Like I've said before, Atlanta is decimated with injuries, Pittsburgh has a good offense and should bounce back after their loss to Baltimore.

NY Giants @ Carolina:  Cam Newton > Eli Manning and the fact the Giants haven't scored over 20 points in forever.

Oakland @ LA Chargers: I like the Chargers to take care of the lackluster Raiders defense which Philip Rivers should feast on.

Minnesota @ Philadelphia:  Jalen Mills gets burned by everyone in the NFL and I expect Kirk Cousins to target either Thielen or Diggs depending on who he's covering.

Arizona @ San Francisco: It hurts me to see the Arizona Cardinals fail so badly :( but until they show something, I'll always vote for their opposition.

LA Rams @ Seattle: The Rams look like Super Bowl contenders and the Seahawks look like pretenders.

Dallas @ Houston: This one is a coin flip for me but I prefer Deshaun Watson to come up in the clutch over Dak Prescott.

Washington @ New Orleans: Saints win and Brees passes Peyton Manning in passing yards all time in another mediocre broadcast of Monday Night Football.

Good luck everyone and be back for Week 6.
